Jasmin's Daughter Tina passed awayDear alumni, parents, and friends of Jasmin and Julius Andres,JASMIN ANDRES has been an INVALUABLE member of our Guidance Office since 1974. JULIUS, her husband, has also been working as the school's electrician for about the same amount of time. They actually met here at school! Tina, the 19 year old daughter of Jasmin and Julius, has glioblastome multiforme, which is a very very aggressive cancer. On Friday, February 8th she continued her brave fight for her life at the hospital. However, She did not make it. That evening she passed away. All your contributions have been most helpful, not only in paying for medical expenses, but also for covering current funeral/burial expenses. Dying can be as costly as living. On behalf of Jasmin and Julius, may I take this opportunity to say THANK-YOU SO MUCH to all who have been so thoughtful. Jasmin and Julius are ever so touched that even alumni from the 50's who they did not know personally came to their aid. Each time I have handed them a donation, tears have been shed. Your kindess reminds me of what I once read by Rev. Henry Burton:
"Have you had a kindness shown? Pass it on.
Alums who want to help can still make a check out to Jasmin Andres. Send it to this address: Vicky Herrera
For passing your kindness on, MARAMING SALAMAT PO to all of you. Vicky SyCip Herrera |

Man
Killed for Karaoke
MANILA (Reuters) - A Filipino man was killed and his friend seriously wounded after they sarcastically applauded a student for singing Frank Sinatra's classic "My Way" off-key, according to a newspaper report. The 21-year-old student felt insulted when the victims clapped after he sang the song at a karaoke parlor in downtown Manila, the reports said Monday. After getting into a fight with the student's friends, the victims left the parlor to avoid trouble but were ambushed outside and shot by the student who was later arrested. Newspapers have said Philippine karaoke parlors have been removing "My Way" from play lists because fights frequently broke out -- for unfathomable reasons -- when the song was sung. The song seems to drive many drunken men to commit anything from slight physical injuries to homicide, reports said. In a remarkably similar incident last November, one man was killed and another wounded when a brawl broke out in a karaoke bar in northern Manila, once again apparently sparked by the quality of singing. |
